CARTA DE LA DRAMATURGA Y DIRECTORA:

En 2011, mi padre tenía dolor en el pecho cada vez que cortaba el césped. Cortaba un poco el pasto y comenzaba el dolor en el pecho. Iría a sentarse y el dolor desaparecería. Él estaría haciendo esto hasta que mi madre descubrió que algo andaba mal y me llamó. De profesión, soy una enfermera avanzada de la familia y mi madre se apoyaría en mi conocimiento para averiguar qué se debe hacer. Puso a mi padre al teléfono y le expliqué que este dolor en el pecho solo empeoraría hasta que le daría un infarto. Le expliqué que no quiere esperar hasta que tenga un ataque al corazón porque entonces su corazón se dañaría y nunca podría volver a cortar el césped. Afortunadamente, ese fue el factor que lo motivó a ver a su médico de cabecera, Carlos Sabates, MD. Una cosa llevó a la otra y necesitaba una cirugía a corazón abierto o más bien un injerto de derivación de la arteria coronaria. Estuve allí para la primera cita para ver al cirujano cardiotorácico en Miami, Florida. Esta obra es lo que sucedió ese día, así como las cosas de las que mis padres y yo hemos hablado a lo largo de los años a medida que se acercan a sus escapadas celestiales. Mi padre pronto cumplirá 91 años y mi madre pronto cumplirá 87. Tengo suerte de tener todavía a mis padres y estoy agradecido de que escuchen mis consejos, o estaría contando otra historia.

LETTER FROM THE PLAYWRIGHT AND DIRECTOR:

In 2011, my father was having chest pain every time he would cut the grass.  He’d cut the grass a little and the chest pain would start.  He would go sit down and the pain would go away.  He would be doing this until my mother figured out something was wrong and she called me. By profession, I am a Family Nurse Practitioner and my mom would lean on my knowledge to find out what needs to be done. She put my father on the phone and I explained to him that this chest pain will only get worse until he would have a heart attack. I explained to him that he doesn’t want to wait until he had a heart attack because then his heart would be damaged where he would never be able to cut the grass again.  Luckily, that was the motivating factor to get him to see his primary doctor, Carlos Sabates, MD. One thing led to the other and he needed open heart surgery or rather a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft. I was there for the first appointment to see the cardiothoracic surgeon in Miami, Florida. This play is what happened that day as well as things my parents and I have talked about over the years as they get closer to their celestial escapes. My father will soon be 91 and my mother will soon be 87. I am lucky to still have my parents and am grateful that they listen to my advice, or I’d be telling another story.

Jomaris De Jesús es una actriz, oradora y coach puertorriqueña con más de una década de experiencia en consultoría de negocios y 25 años en las artes, incluyendo: conductora de programas de radio y televisión, actriz de cine y teatro, reportera de noticias, imitadora y mimo. Ha trabajado con reconocidas productoras como Telemundo International y Lionsgate Productions. A nivel local, ha desempeñado papeles principales en Looking for Lilith y Teatro Tercera Llamada, donde forma parte de la junta directiva. Tiene una maestría en cultura hispana de la Universidad de Louisville; un MBA en Gestión Global de la Universidad de Phoenix; una Licenciatura en Comunicaciones y un minor en Educación de la Universidad del Sagrado Corazón; y actualmente está cursando un doctorado en Psicología Empresarial de The Chicago School o Psicología Profesional. Actualmente es Gerente de Desarrollo Organizacional a nivel estatal en Goodwill Industries of Kentucky.

Jomaris DeJesús is a Puerto Rican actress, speaker, and coach with more than a decade of experience in business consulting and 25 years in the arts including: radio and television show host, film and theater actress, news reporter, impersonator and mime.  She has worked with renowned producing companies such as Telemundo International and Lionsgate Productions. Locally, she has performed main roles with Looking for Lilith and Teatro Tercera Llamada, where she serves on the board of directors. She holds a Hispanic Culture MA from the University of Louisville; an MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix; a BA in Communications, and a minor in Education from the University of Sacred Heart; and is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Psychology from The Chicago School or Professional Psychology. She is currently the state-wide Organizational Development Manager at Goodwill Industries of Kentucky.

Orly Parrado Barbarrosa es originario de Cuidad Havana,Cuba. Está interpretando el papel de Alfredo Gutiérrez, el padre de Peety. Orly también fue actor del Festival de Obras de Diez Minutos de Teatro Tercera Llamada en 2019.

Orly Parrado Barbarrosa is from Havana, Cuba. He is playing the role of Alfredo Gutierrez, Peety’s father. Orly was also an actor if Teatro Tercera Llamada’s Festival of Ten Minute Plays in 2019.

Miraidis Aguilera nació en el condado de Preston, Holguin Cuba 196. Sus padres: Misayda y Eugenio; Cuba_ Puerto Rico. Graduada de Lic. En Español y Literatura Universal en Instituto Pedagogico Jose de la Luz y Caballero en ciudad Holguin. Inicia en el arte actoral 1989 en Casa de Cultura Calzada y 8 en Ciudad de La Habana. Dirige comercio y ventas de literatura cientifica vincilada a la biotecnologia en el Centro de Incestigaciones medicas y  biotecnologia en el Poli Cientifico ( CIGB). Ejerce como asistente de direccion de Espectaculos en vivo en la ciudad capitalina. Graduada de Cosmetologia y business en la ciudad de Lousville, EU 2013. Por primera vez incursions como actriz en Teatro Tercera Llamada en la obra Peety de Haydee Canovas, 2023.

She graduated with a BA in Spanish and Universal Literature from the Jose de la Luz y Caballero Pedagogical Institute in Holguin City. She started acting in 1989 at Casa de Cultura Calzada y 8 in Havana City. She directs trade and sales of scientific literature related to biotechnology at the Center for Medical Research and Biotechnology at the Scientific Police (CIGB) She works as an assistant director of live shows in the capital city. She graduated from Cosmetology and business in the city of Lousville, USA 2013. For the first time she ventured as an actress at Teatro Tercera Llamada in the play Peety by Haydee Canovas, 2023.

Davve Medina: Originario de Ciudad de México. Durante sus primeros cuatro años de escuela primaria, participo en bailables artisticos como el “Negrito bailarin”, ” El bebe lloron”, y  “Ambos de Gabilondo Soler”. Actuo en dos pastorelas infantiles a la edad de 5 anos. Estudio danza en la escuela secundaria and actuo en una obra por dos anos. Actualmente participa en la obra “Peety” de Haydee Canovas en el personaje de “Gerente” de la comapania Teatro Tercera Llamada.

Davve Medina- Originally from Mexico City. During the first four years of elementary school, he participated in artistic dances such as “Negrito Bailarin”, “El bebe lloron”, and “Ambos de Gabilondo Soler”. He acted in two children’s pastorelas at the age of 5 years. He studied dance in high school and performed in a play for two years. He currently participates in the play “Peety” by Haydee Canovas in the character of “Manager” of the Teatro Tercera Llamada company.

David McCoy – David es nativo de Louisville, KY. Asistió a la Universidad de Vanderbilt e hizo estudios de posgrado en la Universidad de Texas en Austin.    Anteriormente coprotagonizó como Carl Andre, esposo de Ana Mendieta en la producción de Teatro Tercera Llamada y estreno mundial de Silueta, de Diane Burbano.   El mantra de David es: Haz algo difícil.  Haz algo amable.  Haz algo aterrador.  Haz algo divertido.   Y cuente sus bendiciones todos los días.  – Participar en esta producción prácticamente presionó todos esos botones.    David es un sobreviviente de cáncer dos veces que participa en triatlones, estudia idiomas, viaja y trabaja con bienes raíces comerciales e internacionales.

McCoy is a native of Louisville, KY. He Vanderbilt University and did graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin.    He previously co-starred as Carl Andre, husband of Ana Mendieta in Teatro Tercera Llamada’s production and World premier of Silueta, by Diane Burbano.    David’s mantra is – Do Something Hard.  Do Something Kind.  Do Something Scary.  Do Something Fun.   And count your blessings every day.  – Participating in this production pretty much hit all of those buttons.    David is a two time cancer survivor who participates in triathlons,  studies languages, travels, and works with commercial and international real estate.

Originaria de Williamsburg, Kentucky, Rachel se mudó a Louisville para obtener un B.S. en Artes Teatrales en la UofL. Originally from Williamsburg, Kentucky, Rachel  moved to Louisville to pursue a B.S. in Theatre Arts at UofL. Since graduating she has stage managed Journeys to Freedom with Ideas xLab, assistant stage managed The Complete Works of William Shakespeare with the Highview Arts Center, and stage managed A Tuna Christmas with Company Outcast.

She has produced all of Teatro Tercera Llamada’s plays as well as many Looking for Lilith Theatre Company’s productions over the years.
